Will Nsfas Pay Allowances For December 2023

NSFAS is a government entity under the Department of Higher Education and Training established according to the NSFAS Act (Act 56 of 1999) to provide financial support to disadvantaged students who wish to further their studies at public universities or TVET colleges.

 

Every year the online Nsfas application date open is from the 2nd of November 2022 and closes on the 7th of January 2023. So from November through to December to the first week of January, applicants can apply. Over the course of 10 months, NSFAS allowances will be paid the first week of each month.

What Does The Nsfas Pay In December 2023-2024

The amounts listed for housing, a living allowance, transportation, and educational materials must comply with the most recent DHET criteria that have been authorised:

Tvet Colleges

• Accommodation in an urban area R24,000 per annum
• Accommodation in a peri-urban area R18,900 per annum
• Accommodation in a rural area R15,750 per annum
• Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7,350  per annum
• Transport R7000 per annum
• Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum

Universities

• Accommodation(As per the actual costs charged by the university (costs for private accommodation must not exceed costs for university residence)
• Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7 500  per annum
• Living allowance R15, of 000  per annum
• Book allowances R5200 per annum
• Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum for students in catered residences

 

Documents Needed To Apply For Nsfas 2023

Anyone who wishes to apply for Nsfas must have the following documents:

• Copy of ID
• Proof of household income
• Parents’ IDs (for dependent applicants)
• Academic record

How To Apply For Nsfas Funds In 2023-2024

Follow the process given below to apply for 2023-2024 Nsfas:

• Visit NSFAS Online Application 2023 portal: www.nsfas.org.za/apply-online-2023
• Then, you create your myNSFAS account
• After that, you click on the “Apply” tab on the NSFAS page
• Update all your NSFAS online Application 2023-2024 information.
• Upload your supporting documents
• Submit your application by clicking on the “SUBMIT” button
• nsfas Payment date
