Do you wish to pursue your qualification in South Africa?, there are about 50 registered public Tvet Colleges that operate under the auspices of the Departments of Higher Education and Training.

Because some students face financial difficulties when it comes to college, Tvet colleges in South Africa have allowed its students to apply for the NSFAS bursaries and funds so students get the sound of mind to read their courses. The NSFAS is the National Students Financial Aid Scheme, a financial hub that provides financial support for South African students.

The Nsfas application open for the 2024-2025 academic period will start on the 21st of November 2023 and will be closing on the 31st of January 2024 therefore all who are interested should in a haste submit their applications through their official website or the regional offices. Applicants are urged to apply on time because Nsfas will not accept late applications.

Who Is Eligible To Apply For The NSFAS Funds In Colleges

All the Tvet Colleges in South Africa have now made it possible for their students to apply for the Nsfas funds, but applicants must fall within the following categories:

  • SASSA grant recipients
  • South African citizens or permanent residents
  •  Candidates whose annual gross household income combined is not greater than R350 000
  •  individuals with disabilities whose annual gross family income is not greater than R600,000.

What Is The Application Date For Nsfas 2024

Nsfas online application date for 2024 will be opened from the 21st of November 2023 and closing on the 31st of January 2024. All students who want to apply must do that within the application date.

What Does The Nsfas Fund Covers In 2024-2025

A student can receive the NSFAS funds to pay for the following:

  • Accommodation in an urban area is R24,000 per annum
  • Accommodation in a peri-urban area R18,900 per annum
  • Accommodation in a rural area is R15,750 per annum
  • Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7,350  per annum
  • Transport R7000 per annum
  • Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum

The Government of South Africa has extended its hands to render help to all as their take on the national cake, thus all the Tvet colleges in South Africa are been funded by Nsfas so that every South African who finds him/herself in any college can benefit from the scheme.

Requirements Needed To Apply For Nsfas 2024-2025

Every student who wants to apply must have the following:

  • Consent Form
  • complete and sign the form
  • South Africa Identity Document: Certified copy ID(not older than 3 months, Certified copies of parent/s or guardian ID or Death certificate
  •  Proof of Income
  • PWD(Persons with Disability): Complete disability form
  • Latest Academic Result

Other documents that may be required, if applicable

  •  Retrenchment letter
  • Death certificate/s
  •   Divorce Decree
  •  Proof of legal guardianship
  •   Marriage certificate

  • Create a profile: Use this link to register for a myNSFAS account: https://my.nsfas.org.za/ or get the NSFAS App from the App Store or Google Play. Your username will be your ID number.
  •  Apply now: To amend your personal information and upload the supporting documents for your application, click the “Apply” option.
