Which Qualifications Does Nsfas Fund In 2023-2024

Through the NSFAS bursary, the National Student Financial Aid Scheme helps students in paying for their education. The application date for 2023-2024 will start from the 2nd of November 2022 and will be closing on the 7th of January 2023.

 

A wide variety of courses are covered by the NSFAS bursary. NSFAS provides financial aid to current and prospective students who want to attend a public university or TVET college in South Africa.

 

Except for a few qualifications, all courses taken at these universities and colleges are covered by NSFAS. It’s important to keep in mind that NSFAS only covers your undergraduate degree and does not provide funding for your postgraduate degree.

 

Qualifications That Are Not Funded By Nsfas 2023-2024

Below is a list of qualifications that are not funded by Nsfas:

• A second undergraduate qualification

 

• Short courses

 

• Postgraduate qualifications

 

• Part-time studies

Requirements For Nsfas Application 2023

NSFAS bursary will cover your tuition fees as well as additional expenses including registration, accommodation, transportation, meals, and other living expenses. The requirements for NSFAS funding are as follows:

Universities Students

• Must be a South African citizen

 

• Must be applying or accepted at a University

 

• SASSA grant recipients immediately qualify

 

• Must have a household income below R350 000 per year

 

• If you’re a person living with a disability, your household income must come to R600 000 or less

 

Which Qualifications Does Nsfas Fund In 2023-2024

 

TVET College Students

• Must be a South African citizen

 

• Must be registered or intending to register on a PLP, NC(V) or Report 191 programme at a TVET College

 

• Must have a household income below R350 000 per year

 

• If you’re a person living with a disability, your household income must come to R600 000 or less

 

• Returning students must demonstrate proven and accepted academic performance in line with the College’s progression policy or the progression prescriptions of the Bursary Rules and Guidelines

 

• Must not be enrolling for a qualification that duplicates previous learning that was state-funded
