Nsfas Application Payment Dates

NSFAS payouts are paid each month. These are frequently handed out on the third Monday of every month in the 2025 cycle, although there are occasionally irregular occasions during the year.

The NSFAS is a very helpful program, not just for South Africa but also for those who would otherwise find it difficult to pay for their higher education. To maximize your chances of being accepted, it is essential to understand the application process, how it operates, and what to expect.

Your application goes through a review process by the authorities of Nsfas. All successful students who made to receive the funds are all given scheduled dates so they can receive their monies.

The NSFAS application doors will be open to all applicants beginning on September 20th, 2024, and closing on December 15th, 2024. Therefore, applicants are requested to submit their applications by the deadline.

How Much Will Nsfas Give To  University Students In 2025

The bursaries provide for extra annual allowances in addition to paying for registration and tuition. Depending on the cost to the college or university, a housing allowance (private accommodation costs cannot exceed the costs of halls of residence or institution-provided hostels).

• Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7 500  per annum
• Living allowance R15, of 000  per annum
• Book allowances R5200 per annum
• Incidental/personal care allowance of R2900 per annum for students in catered residences

Each month, NSFAS payouts are made. In the 2025 cycle, these are typically distributed on the third Monday of each month, though there may be a few sporadic occasions throughout the year.

First Semester NSFAS Payment Date:

• Cycle 1 – All Campuses 26 February 2025
• Cycle 2 – All Campuses 06 March 2025
• Cycle 3 – All Campuses 22 April 2025
• Cycle 4 – All Campuses 20 May 2025
• Cycle 5 – All Campuses Monday 17 June 2025

Second Semester NSFAS Payment Date

• Cycle 6 – Medical School 01 July 2025
• Cycle 6 – All Other Campuses  08 July 2025
• Cycle 7 – All Campuses 05 August 2025
• Cycle 8 – All Campuses 02 September 2025
• Cycle 9 – All Campuses 07 October 2025
• Cycle 10 – All Campuses (Final payment for 2025)

How Much Will Nsfas Give To Tvet College Students In 2025

The bursaries do not only cover registration and tuition fees but also make provision for other yearly allowances. An Accommodation allowance depends on what is charged by the college (private accommodation costs cannot exceed the costs of halls of residence or institution-provided hostels):

• Accommodation in an urban area is R24,000 per annum
• Accommodation in a peri-urban area R18,900 per annum
• Accommodation in a rural area is R15,750 per annum
• Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7,350  per annum
• Transport R7000 per annum
• Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum
