Are you waiting to receive your NSFAS funding but have been asked to submit outstanding documents? Several students receive an email from NSFAS requesting additional documentation to support their funding application. Receiving an NSFAS outstanding documents email can be frustrating, but don’t worry, were are here to help.
Those who applied for NSFAS financing but did not submit the necessary supporting documentation are required to do so. To make sure they have included all necessary documents with their application, applicants are advised to log into their myNSFAS accounts.
It is significant to notice that for NSFAS to make final funding choices, applicants who lack adequate supporting documentation must provide them. If applicants are unable to upload the required documents online, they should email them to missingdocuments@nsfas.org.za with their ID number as a reference.

Required Documents To Be Uploaded To Nsfas for 2025
The following are the required documents that are to be uploaded to Nsfas:
- Certified copy of your South African birth certificate or ID document;
- Certified ID copies of parents or guardians;
- Certified copies of proof of income (where applicable); and
- A completed consent form. This form can be downloaded from www.nsfas.org.za
Note: According to NSFAS, applicants must use the myNSFAS portal to submit an appeal within 30 days after getting the “Missing Documents” application status.
Where to Email NSFAS Outstanding Documents for 2025-2026
All documents that were missing or were not successfully uploaded to Nsfas are to be emailed to missingdocuments@nsfas.org.za.
How To Appeal For A Review On Your Nsfas Documents 2025-2026
Here is how to appeal on Nsfas using myNSFAS:
- Log into your “MyNSFAS” account on www.nsfas.org.za​
- Click the ‘Track Funding Progress’ option
- Check the application progress tabs
- If your application status reflects an unsuccessful message, you may submit an appeal by clicking on the ‘Submit Appeal Tab’
- Once you are on the ‘Application Appeal’ page, you can see the reason for your unsuccessful application status
- You are then able to choose the appeal reason
- Then upload certified supporting documents to support your reason
- Then click ‘Submit Appeal’
- You may now track the progress of the appeal on your myNSFAS account.
