Nsfas Bursary  Application Requirements 2025

There are certain requirements students need to meet if they want to apply for NSFAS to further their tertiary education in South Africa. NSFAS is a government program under the Department of Higher Education and Training established according to the NSFAS to offer financial support to disadvantaged students who wish to further their studies at public universities or TVET colleges.

Nsfas Requirements are supporting documents that applicants should attach to their application so their application will meet the standard that it can be accepted. Nsfas makes it clear to all applicants that, if they don’t meet the requirements for application, their application will be rejected. Applicants who wish to apply for the 2025 NSAFS funds can now do that because the application windows are currently open. Continue to read below and find out the enrollment requirements.

Who can receive NSFAS funding for 2025

• A student who has achieved a certificate qualification and wants to study for a second certificate qualification.
• Students studying at a private institution.
• Students who have received 100% study funding from non-NSFAS sources.
• Students enrolled for qualifications that are not approved by DHET and/or SAQA accredited.
• A student who already has obtained an undergraduate qualification and wants to study for a second undergraduate qualification

2025 NSFAS Bursary Requirements:

The following supporting documents are required from all applicants to be taken into consideration, so make sure you have them before submitting your application. Applications lacking these materials won’t be accepted:

• South African ID document (this can include any of the following):
• copy of green ID document
• temporary ID from the DHA
• copy of both sides of the Smart ID card
• unbridged birth certificate
• Non-SASSA grant applicants: Parents, guardians, or spouse ID documents (copies only)
• Own, parents, guardians, or spouse proof of income, if a non-SASSA applicant (this can include any of the following):
• latest payslip if employed (not older than 3 months)
• UIF letter
• employment letter
• retrenchment letter, if a non-SASSA applicant
• Students with disabilities: complete and sign the Disability Annexure A Form
• Students who are recognized as Vulnerable Children by the Department of Social Development: complete and sign the Vulnerable Child
• Declaration Form
