Is Nsfas Bursaries Application Open For 2025
The application windows for Nsfas will be opened for the year 2025 to all applicants from September 20th, 2024, and close on December 15th, 2024. Applicants are therefore urged to apply within the application deadline.
Who is Eligible For Nsfas 2025 Bursaries
If you fall under this category of people, then you are eligible to apply for the 2025 NSFAS application:
- Â All South African citizens
- All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
- Â Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
- Â A person with a disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
- Â SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and need not submit any proof of income.

Who Cannot Apply For 2025 NSFAS Bursaries
The following people are not allowed to apply:
- A student who has achieved a certificate qualification and wants to study for a second certificate qualification.
- Students studying at a private institution.
- Students who have received 100% study funding from non-NSFAS sources.
- Students enrolled for qualifications that are not approved by DHET and/or SAQA accredited.
- A student who already has obtained an undergraduate qualification and wants to study for a second undergraduate qualification.
What Does The Nsfas Funds Cover for 2025
The 2025 Nsfas funds can be used to pay for the following:
UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
- Accommodation
- As per the actual costs charged by the university (costs for private accommodation must not exceed costs for university residence)
- Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7 500Â per annum
- Living allowance R15, of 000Â per annum
- Book allowances R5200 per annum
- Incidental/personal care allowance of R2900 per annum for students in catered residences
TVET STUDENTS
- Accommodation in an urban area is R24,000 per annum
- Accommodation in a peri-urban area R18,900 per annum
- Accommodation in a rural area is R15,750 per annum
- Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7,350Â per annum
- Transport R7000 per annum
- Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum

 Nsfas Bursaries Requirement Needed For Application
All candidates must supply the following supporting documents to be considered; so make sure you have them available before submitting your application. Applications won’t be accepted without these materials:
- Â Cellphone number and email address
- Copy of your ID or birth certificate
-  Copies of your parents, guardian or spouse’s ID
-  proof of your income or 1 year’s IRP5 (if applicable,)
-  Your parents, guardian, or spouse’s evidence of income
- Â Those who are SASSA grant recipients, are not to have any proof of income.
- Â All Applicants with a disability are to submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form
- Â All recognized applicants as Vulnerable Children by the Department of Social Development should also provide a completed and signed
- Â Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.

Follow the process below to apply online for the NSFAS:
- Visit the NSFAS Application 2025 website: www.nsfas.org.za/apply-2025.
- Then, you click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab.
- Create a myNSFAS account.
- Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab.
- Update your personal information.
- Answer the questions you see on the screen.
- Upload all the required supporting documents.
- Finally, click on submit
