NSFAS has specified that receivers of allowances in 2023 will continue to receive them in 2024. Applications for the NSFAS can be submitted electronically through the myNSFAS portal, which enables students to apply using a smartphone or computer. To do this, you must create a myNSFAS account using your data.

Use your myNSFAS account to submit your NSFAS for the bursary if you believe you are now enrolled or have already attended a public Tvet College or University. To apply, students must log into their NSFAS accounts.

South Africans who missed the deadline to submit their financial assistance applications for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) can now sigh with relief. The deadline has been extended, per a statement from the government financial assistance agency, to offer prospective students one more opportunity to apply.

Nsfas Allowance Extended Date In 2024-2025

The online NSFAS application date for the 2024 academic year starts on the 21st of November 2023 and closes on the 31st of January 2024.

What Does The Nsfas Extended Allowance Cover 2024/2025

The Nsfas allowances can be used for the following:

UNIVERSITY

• Accommodation
  As per the actual costs charged by the university (costs for private accommodation must not exceed costs for university residence)
• Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7 500  per annum
• Living allowance R15, of 000  per annum
• Book allowances R5200 per annum
• Incidental/personal care allowance of R2900 per annum for students in catered residences

TVET COLLEGES

• Accommodation in an urban area is R24,000 per annum
• Accommodation in a peri-urban area R18,900 per annum
• Accommodation in a rural area is R15,750 per annum
• Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7,350  per annum
• Transport R7000 per annum
• Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum

Nsfas Requirements Needed To Apply For Nsfas Allowance Extended In 2024  2025

Attach to your application the following documents:

• All applicants must provide a copy of their ID document. Smart ID cards: a copy with both sides of the smart ID must be provided
• A temporary ID issued by the Department of Home Affairs
• Non-SASSA applicants must provide ID copies of parent/s, legal guardian/guardian or spouse,
• Proof of income applicant and/or parents/legal guardian/spouse (where applicable (non-SASSA) should provide the latest payslip, not older than 3 months, UIF letter, appointment letter, retrenchment letter (applicant and/or parent(s), legal guardian/spouse).

• NSFAS applications are submitted online through the myNSFAS portal (www.nsfas.org.za), where students can submit their applications using their smartphones or computers.
• To apply you must create a myNSFAS account online, then proceed to the application tab where you will fill in your details.
• Applicants must ensure that they receive a reference number when they have submitted their application, as proof that their applications have been successfully submitted.

Note: If you don’t have a digital device or internet connection, you can still apply by going to your local Thusong Center or National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) and following the same procedures there.
